Coverage options

Life insurance policies we help DC families compare

Term Life Insurance

Affordable protection for a set period — 10, 20 or 30 years. The most common choice for parents, homeowners and anyone with a mortgage or young kids.

Best for: Families who need the most coverage per dollar

Whole Life Insurance

Permanent coverage that never expires, with level premiums and guaranteed cash value that grows over time and can be borrowed against.

Best for: Lifelong protection and estate planning

Universal & Indexed Universal Life

Flexible permanent coverage where you can adjust premiums and death benefit over time, with cash value tied to a fixed rate or a market index.

Best for: Higher earners wanting flexibility and growth

Final Expense & Burial Insurance

Smaller whole life policies, typically $5,000–$35,000, designed to cover funeral costs and leftover bills so your family isn't handed the tab.

Best for: Seniors 50–85, including those with health conditions

No-Exam Life Insurance

Skip the nurse visit and the needles. Answer health questions online or by phone and get a decision in minutes to a few days, often up to $1–2 million.

Best for: Busy professionals who want coverage fast

Mortgage Protection Insurance

Term coverage sized to your mortgage balance so the house stays in the family if something happens to you. Popular with new DC homebuyers.

Best for: Recent homebuyers and refinancers

Why Life Insurance Pros

Independent agents. Multiple carriers. One phone call.

A captive agent can only sell you what their company offers. Our agents are independent, which means they quote the same application across many carriers and show you which one actually rates you best — because two insurers can price the same person hundreds of dollars a year apart.

Your agent runs your profile across our carrier lineup and comes back with the two or three best-fit options, side by side.

Common questions

Life insurance questions we hear from DC residents

How much life insurance do I actually need?

A common starting point is 10 to 12 times your annual income, then adjust for your mortgage balance, childcare and college costs, and any existing coverage. In a high-cost city like Washington, many families land between $500,000 and $1 million of term coverage. Your agent will walk through the math with you.

I'm a federal employee with FEGLI. Do I still need a private policy?

Often, yes. FEGLI Basic is convenient, but Option B premiums rise sharply every five years after age 35, and coverage shrinks or gets expensive after you retire. Many federal workers keep Basic and replace Option B with a level-premium private term policy that's locked in for 20 or 30 years. We can run both numbers for you.

Can I get life insurance without a medical exam?

Yes. Several carriers offer accelerated underwriting up to $1–2 million with no exam for healthy applicants, and simplified-issue and guaranteed-issue final expense policies are available for those with health conditions. Rates are sometimes a bit higher than fully underwritten coverage, so we'll show you both.

How much does term life insurance cost in Washington, DC?

Rates depend on age, health, tobacco use and the amount and length of coverage — not on your ZIP code. A healthy, non-smoking 30-year-old can typically get $250,000 of 20-year term for around $15–20 per month; a healthy 45-year-old, roughly $35–50 per month for the same policy.

Are your agents licensed in the District of Columbia?

Yes. Every agent we refer you to holds an active life insurance producer license with the DC Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (DISB). Many are also licensed in Maryland and Virginia for families who live or work across the line.

What clients say

Trusted by families across the District

★★★★★

"I'd put this off for years because I assumed it'd be expensive and complicated. One call, three quotes side by side, and I had a $750k term policy in place for less than my streaming subscriptions."

Marcus T.Petworth, NW
★★★★★

"As a fed with FEGLI I didn't think I needed anything else. They showed me exactly what Option B would cost me at 50 and 55. Switched to a 30-year term and I'm saving money already."

Danielle R.Navy Yard, SE
★★★★★

"Helped my mother get a final expense policy even with her health history. Patient, respectful, and they never once tried to upsell her. That meant a lot."
